The Phenols Test Kit HI3864 Hanna Instruments is a chemical test kit that uses the aminoantipyrine method to measure phenols in the low (LR) and high range (HR). The Phenols test Kit HI3864 is supplied complete with all of the reagents and equipment necessary to perform 100 tests.

The Phenols Test Kit HI3864 is a chemical test kit that determines the phenol concentration in two ranges: 0.00 to 1.00 mg/L (LR) and 0.5 to 5.0 mg/L (HR). The HI3864 is supplied with all of the necessary reagents and equipment to perform both analyses, including the Checker^® disc. The Checker^® disc makes concentration determination more accurate and easier than a typical color comparator.The test kit contains enough reagents to perform 100 tests.

Replacement reagents available

There is no need to buy a new kit when reagents are exhausted. The HI3864-100 reagent set can be ordered to replace the reagents supplied with the kit. This reagent set comes with 100 packets of HI3864A-0 and 100 packets of HI3864B-0.

Significance of Use

Phenols are widely used in pharmaceuticals, dyes and indicators, and as general disinfectants. They may occur in household and industrial wastewaters and in natural waters; they can also enter potable water supplies and chlorination of such waters results in malodorous chlorophenol products that are detectable from 0.001 mg/L (1ppb). The Hanna colorimetric method determines phenol and all ortho and para substituted phenols. Since substitution generally lowers the response, the readable value obtained by this method is the minimum concentration of phenolic compounds present. Natural water usually contains less than 0.001 mg/L of phenols, but sometimes values up to 0.02 mg/L (20 ppb) also occur. Since the concentration of phenols in wastewater is generally subjected to biological and chemical degradation, preserve samples in the refrigerator and analyze within four hours after collection.
